Nobody understands how much I love boba. And I mean NO ONE. When I’m having a bad day during finals week…or any bad day for that matter, the only thing I really crave is a cold milk tea. So of course, when a friend tells me about a new boba place that’s opened up down the street from my favorite mall, how could I resist. And thankfully, I was not disappointed.
Well, crap. Just as I was beginning this second paragraph, the name of the place slipped my mind. It’s called Tea something. TeaZone? Tea Era? Well if you find a San Jose boba shop that serves boba in cute mason jars, you’ve probably got the right one. Appearance, I swear, is 80% of a “good boba” score. And what can I say, these milk teas look cute. Hella cute.
Ok can we just take a moment to admire how good these all look? I personally like the super sweet milk teas more than the fruity (healthier) ones. Unfortunately the sweet ones don’t look as interesting. I’ll let ya’ll take one guess at which one’s mine. I’ll give you a hint–it’s the ugliest one (in my opinion). The second one from the right. It tasted delicious, don’t get me wrong, but next time I think I will opt for the healthier tea-based alternative. There are a lot of toppings you can add to boba. I generally stick to the two rather ordinary ones: boba (the pearls), and red bean. So it’s no wonder why my tea is always the most diabetes-inducing.
Gotta get pictures from all the good angles too. Now you may notice that my boba is also the only one without ice. I don’t know why, but my teeth are super sensitive and I prefer when my drinks aren’t cold cold, especially since the milk used as the base is cold already. And I don’t like how the ice dilutes the flavor either, when you don’t drink it fast enough, that is.
All in all, though, I think this is a great new boba place. The interior is fresh and clean looking (sorry, no pictures..too busy focusing on the boba), and the service is extremely fast. They also have a bunch of board games that you can play while hanging out with your friends and drinking boba. It’s great. For those of you who have never tried boba, give it a shot! A lot of people think it’s weird having to chew something while you simultaneously drink, but its a sensation that you’ll grow to LOVE (in my opinion). And then you can start getting creative with the toppings.
Know of any boba places in NorCal or SoCal? Definitely let me know! I’ve tried out a bunch of them already, but I’m always looking for a new option 🙂 Merry Christmas, everyone! Thanks for reading.
