Yay, it’s time for another Foodie Friday post! Before I went to Canada, I had Yelped a bunch of places and bookmarked the ones I really wanted to try. It didn’t really help that I ended up with almost 50 restaurants on my list. I got pretty desperate, haha. I was calculating the number of meals I could fit in every day. I was only there for 4 days. 12 meals (4 x 3 meals a day)…50 places to try…my 3 meals a day became more like 4-5 meals. But hey, I’m not going to be back in Vancouver anytime soon, so I have no regrets! Well, maybe just a little now that I’m back home and trying to lose all of the weight that I gained.
Anyway, today I’m featuring my favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner finds. Hope ya’ll enjoy!
BREAKFAST: Tuc Craft Kitchen (Canadian, Comfort Food)
I’m not exactly sure what Canadian cuisine is, but if what I had here was any indication of it, I’m a BIG fan. I ordered the Shakshuka dish (one of their most popular), which consists of two poached free run eggs, summer squash, spinach, jalapeno stewed plum tomatoes, and feta cheese. I didn’t really know what to expect, but the result was delicious. I don’t even like tomatoes, but I gobbled this whole thing up so fast. I don’t like squash either, but whatever they did in this dish, it worked for me. I also ordered a crispy bacon & egg. It was so good. I’ve never had anything like it! Who thinks of wrapping fried bacon around a soft boiled egg?!
LUNCH: Miku Restaurant (Japanese, Sushi Bars)
Miku is not your typical sushi restaurant! Their sushi comes with a modern twist. You’ll see what I mean in the pictures. There were so many things that I wanted to try, so I decided to just go with the Miku Zen. The Miku Zen comes with a selection of four seasonal items chosen by their chefs and five pieces of sushi served with their signature Aburi sushi and miso soup. Everything was so delicious and beautifully presented!
DINNER: Jules French Bistro (French)
And…..I’ve saved the best for last 🙂 I absolutely loved this place. I adore French food, and this place serves up great authentic French cuisine. I ordered the chicken liver mousse as an appetizer and their veal and bone marrow special for my entree. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. The chicken liver mousse is pretty much like foie gras, but lighter and fluffier. You still get that rich liver flavor, though. It was a very generous cup…and the 4 toast pieces weren’t enough so I just started using the regular bread that they start you out with when you get seated. The veal dish was heaven. The meat so so tender, and the bone marrow was delicious!
Yum yum yum. So there you have it! Canadian, Japanese, and French cuisine all in one delicious post 😉 Which one was your favorite?
Looks so YUM. Ugghhhh I want!!!
Haha yeah I got so hungry when writing this!
This sounds like me, haha. When I travel all I want to do is shop and go to new restaurants! It’s like “would it be obnoxious to eat 10 times a day?” haha. Anyways all this food looks very good, thanks for sharing!
