Another Hawaii post today! Sigh, looking back on pictures from this trip during midterms week is not helping my studying at all, haha. But at least I get to share some of my favorite moments with you guys! I’m not even kidding, the beach I’m about to show you is how I’ve always pictured “paradise” to be. I’ve never seen water so clear and blue! So, without further ado, welcome to Lanikai Beach!
Notice how you can see the rocks under the water–the clearness of the water is even more incredible in person! Lanikai beach is a little ways off from the main beach in the area. It’s surrounded by a residential neighborhood, which makes parking a huge pain. Because it’s a relatively smaller beach, it’s definitely not as lively as Waikiki, but I personally really liked the quiet and peaceful setting. The water here is so clear you can see all the way to your toes, even when you’re a good 50-100m in. And it’s not even just clear clear, it’s a magnificent blue clear, the kind that I thought I’d only see in magazines. But no man, this wasn’t a filter, this was the real deal.
By the way, if you guys are looking to buy cheap tanks like the ones we’re wearing in the picture, I highly suggest buying oversized t-shirts from souvenir stores (I’m pretty sure the chain we went to was called ABC). They sell t-shirts for like $3 each, and we just bought a bunch and went home to cut the sleeves out. It makes for a super cute beach cover-up! The only downside of this beach is the lack of public restrooms. And the parking. But even then, I would still come back. This place is truly heaven on Earth. Also, if you decide to wade farther into the ocean, be careful! The small rocks blend in with the sand and if you start walking too fast you may cut your foot. And nobody wants a bloody trickle of red tainting the beautiful clear water here. But then again, the water doesn’t get THAT deep, so as long as you walk slowly and feel around before you step, you’ll be fine.
