Seriously can’t believe it’s already been 3 weeks since I was in Hawaii. Time flies by so fast. Since starting my internship, I’ve noticed that the days go by slow, but the weeks go by fast. Do any of you guys get that same feeling? Anyway, I wanted to share my visit to Rainbow Falls with you all today. Rainbow Falls is a waterfall on the Big Island (Hilo) surrounded by lush greens with a very rainforest-y vibe. For those of you who aren’t hiking fanatics, this is the perfect place to visit! The falls are just a very short walk away from the parking lot. No climbing necessary! Except for a flight of stairs.
When you get to the top, you get an amazing view of the waterfall. The weather is pretty unpredictable on the Big Island. It’ll be sunny for 5 minutes and then start pouring out of nowhere. The rain showers are short but intense! Definitely bring a poncho or umbrella if you don’t want to get wet! And I guess because of the rain (and maybe the waterfall itself), you can often see rainbows hovering over the falls. We unfortunately didn’t get to see any rainbows at the falls. It was raining the whole time we were there, which is why a lot of the pictures above look slightly grainy.
If you keep walking to the left of the falls, there’s a very interesting looking tree. It’s HUGE, and I wonder if it’s actually made up of several trees. It looks like it has more than one trunk! And thanks to it’s size, you’ll be shielded from the rain 🙂
In other news, I’ve decided to revamp the itinerary section of my blog! Instead of featuring an itinerary in a dedicated blog post, I think I’ll just create a new page that will basically serve as a library for all itineraries. I’ll be uploading my Canada ones soon. These itineraries will be in PDF form so ya’ll can download them. And I’m thinking about making the library “open-source,” meaning I would love to have you guys contribute some of your favorite itineraries (you’ll get credit, of course). If any of you are interested, feel free to shoot me a message!
Hope you guys had a wonderful long weekend.
