If you haven’t noticed by now, I take a lot of day trips to SF. Day trips just because I don’t live far enough to make staying overnight worth it. This trip was from a couple years ago, and it’s perfect if you only have a half-day to see SF. Of course, seeing all of SF in a half-day is basically impossible (hence why I take so many day trips LOL). But if you have to pick and choose, here is a good handful of eats/sights that I would recommend! So, pictures first, and details later 🙂 The pictures are in chronological order, by the way, in terms of how I did this day trip.
Boba Guys (3491 19th St, San Francisco, CA 94110): I’ve been to several Boba Guys location now. This one is definitely on the smaller side, but the drinks are still amazing! If there’s one drink you need to try, it’s the Strawberry Matcha Latte. My favorite drink ever! Not really your traditional milk tea, but the flavors work so well together, and the boba here is the perfect texture. Worth shelling out the $6 for a large size. The line can get pretty long but it moves fast so don’t worry, you won’t be waiting for long 🙂 This drink will change yo life.
Wood Line (Presidio Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94129): This is such a peaceful place to walk around. Not too crowded with tourists (at least when I went), and I hope it stays like that. It was a little hard to find since it’s nestled within a bunch of trees, but you should be able to navigate to it via Google Maps. I’d budget around ~20-30 min here. Lighting here is tricky for photographs. We came here in the middle of the afternoon when the light was still pretty harsh. Hard to get those dreamy photographs you see on the web 🙁 But that still doesn’t take the magic out of being there in person.
Crissy Field: When I picture summer in SF, Crissy Field is the first thing that comes to mind. It’s such a wonderful place to walk around along the water (it’s basically a mini beach). You have a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and a huge grass field to play around on as well. My friends and I sometimes bring a volleyball, and I always see a lot of people with footballs and frisbees. It can get pretty crowded, especially on a nice summer day. But hey, that’s part of the experience.
House of Prime Rib (1906 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94109): Alright….this place…haha. I REALLY wanted to love this place. A lot of people compare HOPR to Lawry’s Prime Rib in LA. Lawry’s is one of my favorite restaurants, so I might have set the bar for this place a little too high. The experience was very similar, but I think Lawry’s still does everything better. We didn’t have a reservation, so we were lucky enough to snag a couple seats at the bar. Each order of prime rib comes with salad, mashed potatoes, and bread pudding. I also added on creamed corn. The food was pretty good, don’t get me wrong. It just wasn’t Lawry’s 🙂 Many people still consider it to be a staple of SF, though (6000+ reviews on Yelp LOL). So I’d still recommend giving it a try. And make reservations ahead of time 🙂
Pier 39: Another staple attraction in SF. Lots of cool shops around here. I’ll be honest, the last time I came here it was to catch Pokemon LOL. But that craze has since died down. There’s a pretty cool mirror maze on the second level. It’s around $5 per person and you can go through it as many times as you want. The food here is alright. I think you can find better options at Fisherman’s Wharf (especially if you’re looking for good clam chowder). But this is definitely a more lively area to walk around. Great views, great vibes, and great shops!
Twin Peaks (501 Twin Peaks Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94114): I love ending a day in SF here. It gets hella chilly at night, but you can’t beat these views. Even at night, this place is pretty packed. Actually, I think it’s more packed at night than it is during the day. Everyone wants to see the night views 🙂 Bring warm layers to combat the wind! The view here is worth, though. I promise!
And that’s a wrap! Hope ya’ll enjoyed. What are your favorite places in SF?
