HONEY ICE CREAM. It’s one of my favorite desserts, and it’s something that you all need to try ASAP. Cause it’s that amazing. I get really excited telling people about this because it’s not that big in the states! I know a lot of Asian countries have little shops that specialize in selling honey ice cream, but in the U.S., I’ve only come across such shops in SoCal (and there are so few of them!). Now that I’m back in NorCal for a year (at least), I find myself constantly craving honey ice cream. Thankfully they’re opening a place 30 min. away from my home in NorCal soon. But in the meantime, I will indulge with you all through pictures 🙂
**Note: Don’t try making this at home. If you do, just know that there’s a lot more to it than vanilla ice cream and bottled honey (I know from experience). The ice cream that they usually use for this is called “milk ice cream.” The texture is slightly different and the flavor is a little softer so that the honey can come through.
I personally prefer getting the honey swirled into the ice cream. I find the honeycomb to be a little too waxy in texture, but I have several friends who LOVE it–it is the freshest version of honey after all. The place I frequent most in LA is called Honeymee. They have a stampcard system in place so once you reach 20 stamps, you get a free ice cream AND a Honeymee mug. I got my 20 stamps in less than a year so…yes, people tell me I’m a little obsessed. This place was a 40 minute commute each way, haha.
But I really hope you guys can try this dessert someday. At least now you know it exists! 🙂
