So, I’ve actually been in Jamaica for the past week, and I’m writing this post right before I head to the airport to go back home. This week has been nothing short of amazing, and I’m so thankful for the new friends that I’ve metย and the beautiful places I’ve been able to witness. I’m excited to share my stories/adventures in Jamaica with you guys, and I’ve decided to start out with my favorite spot from this past week: The Blue Hole.
I had only seen pictures of the Blue Hole before I went, so I didn’t really know what to expect. We went early in the morning, and it was surprisingly not crowded at all. I think most people here go to Dunn’s River Fallsย instead, but I definitely preferred the Blue Hole. The entrance fee is around $15-$20 per person (I can’t remember exactly), and make sure you have water shoes! If you’re staying at a resort, I recommend buying them either at the Blue Hole, or from vendors that sell them on the street. I got mine for $10 ($8 if you rent) from a street vendor, and that’s a lot cheaper than what they sell for at the resort.
Once you arrive at the Blue Hole, you get assigned a guide to take you around the Blue Hole.ย They are very warm and friendly and will make sure you don’t injure yourself while diving/jumping off the cliff ๐ The first jump is the scariest but once you get past that you’ll want to jump again and again. The Blue Hole that you’re jumping into is very deep, so don’t worry about accidentally hitting the bottom. The water shoes will make sure that you don’t slice your foot on any rocks when you swim up to the more shallow end.
There’s a lot of fun activities to do here. We ended our tour with rope swinging into the blue hole. Before the rope swinging finale, I think there were maybe 4 jumps in total? They go by fast, and they’re so much fun! I had a chance to do some crazy poses, haha. Brace yourself for the pictures…they’re pretty embarassing ๐ Sorry about how blurry some of these pictures are. Everything was moving so fast! The guides helped us take most of theseย pictures. They hold your phone/camera so that it won’t get wet while you’re diving in and out of the water.
This would definitely be my first stop if I ever come back to Jamaica ๐ We stayed at an all-inclusive resort and took 2 day trips while we were here. And I think 2 days is enough time to see all the main sights in Jamaica. I’m excited to share the rest of my experiences here with you all, and I’ll be sure to include my full itinerary for the two day trips at some point. One last note about visiting the Blue Hole, though–the guides here don’t actually get paid, so they 100% depend on tips. For our party of 4, we gave our guide (Toni–who was amazing, btw) $20. So just keep that in mind when you visit!
Funny story from our driver (Mr. T): “In Jamaica, there are only two problems: when your car horn doesn’t work, and when you can’t find a bartender at the bar. Everything else is just a situation.”
Jamaican people are so laid back, and SO friendly and welcoming. I will miss everyone here–the hotel staff, our guides, and our driver, Mr. T. Thank you all for sharing your stories and the spirit of Jamaica with us during our short time here.

Really nice pictures! Did the resort help you plan out the rest of your activities?
Thanks! They could have but we already planned out what we wanted to do before we got there so we contacted an external tour company that provided drivers for our day trips ๐
