Happy Friday, everyone! So…I don’t cook very much, but I love watching my mom cook. A couple weeks ago, I decided to document a dinner episode in pictures (I love taking pictures of food, haha). Enjoy!
My dog, Sandy, LOVES it whenever my mom cooks. She always waits around the sink and cutting board area (or the fridge if she’s feeling really lucky) hoping she can a snag a bite if something drops. In that respect, my grandma is probably her favorite cook. She chops really fast and things go flying off the cutting board all the time, so Sandy gets to have a feast. Sandy loves eating carrots and bok choy–definitely healthier than me, haha.
Cooking everything on the stove probably took less than 15 minutes. Here are the finished dishes:
1) Potatoes with scallions and peppers: I love this dish! It’s hard to get the cooking time right (the potatoes are supposed to still be slightly crispy), but all it takes is practice. The crispy texture makes this dish seem very light, and the spice from the peppers do the same.
2) Not sure what the white vegetable is called in english, but it reminds me of a cross between potato and radish? I love this dish because of all the different textures. Flavor-wise, it’s pretty simple, and I think most of it comes from the meat.
3) No need for any explanation here, haha. My family (including Sandy) loves bok choy. It’s such a simple dish, but it’s so tasty!
4) Meatball soup with napa cabbage and mushrooms. The cabbage, surprisingly, brings a lot of flavor to the soup! For the meatballs, we mixed ground pork, egg, cooking wine, and a pinch of salt and sugar. I could eat meatballs all day 🙂
Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures! Have a wonderful weekend.
XOXO,

Oh My Goodness, those potatoes look sensational; I loved eating them whilst in China, but so does the rest of the vegetables…love Sandy…too gorgeous – clearly a much loved part of the family.
Thank you! And haha yes Sandy definitely has a big presence in our kitchen 🙂
