AprilSkin products have been popping up all over the web lately (or at least, all over MY Facebook newsfeed). For those of you who don’t know, AprilSkin is a Korean cosmetics/skincare brand. I’ve always been a huge fan of Korean brands. It’s a combination of the cute packaging and the high quality of the products themselves. They use a lot of innovative ingredients that have really started to catch the eye of the American beauty market. And I really think the products themselves are quite effective. AprilSkin sent me some of their newest products recently, so today I’ll be talking about my favorites—from skincare to makeup. Hope you guys enjoy!
Magic Snow Face Mask:
I love a good face mask. Unfortunately, most face masks that I’ve tried set the expectations too high. You’ll see face masks that are supposed to whiten, purify, promote elasticity, etc. The list goes on and on. But seriously, a 20-minute face mask really isn’t going to do that much. And what is “purified” skin even supposed to look like? SO. The first thing I noticed about the AprilSkin Magic Snow Mask was that it keeps expectations reasonable. The main ingredient in this mask is Sparassis Crispa extract. Sparassis Crispa is a medicinal mushroom that has been shown to have positive effects on skin. The mask claims to brighten and deeply moisturize dry skin. And I think it meets those expectations 100%.
The serum that this mask is drenched in is super thick, and slightly sticker than other masks that I’ve tried. It’s more of a gel consistency, if anything. That being said, your skin WILL feel super hydrated. The scent is light and refreshing, the gel retains a cool temperature, and the mask has no problem sticking to your face. After 20 minutes, my skin definitely looked brighter, and felt super moisturized. I rubbed the excess serum from the mask into my skin, so nothing went to waste 🙂 Will definitely be using this at least once a week!
Premium Magic Snow Cream:
I LOVE this stuff. First off, this amount will last you forever. A little goes a long way, and I was so surprised to see changes in my skin so quickly after I started using it. As with most Korean skincare products, this one claims to whiten your skin. But unlike most products, this one ACTUALLY does. After massaging this lotion into your skin (and once again, you don’t need very much), your skin will instantly look brighter. You could probably layer on more if you want, but past a certain point, you’ll look more ghostly than bright. I use this at the end of my skincare routine, not the beginning of my makeup routine, so I’m not as concerned with how it makes my skin look while I have it on. After just 3-5 days of use, though, I noticed that my skin did in fact look much brighter. The redness in my cheeks was less noticeable, and my blemishes were not as visible either. So I will be using this product for a LONG time. This cream also has a light citron scent, which I absolutely love. It’s lightweight and goes on very easily. Highly recommend giving this a try.
Magic Snow Cushion SPF50 (Black/Pink):
These are great! Like most BB creams from Asia, the shade selection for these isn’t super extensive, and they definitely lean towards lighter shades. I thought #23 (Natural Beige) would suit my skin tone just right, but I think I’m still a little too tan from Hawaii. Will definitely be able to wear these by winter, though. And I can’t wait!! I love the dewy finish this leaves, and a little goes a long way. Coverage is amazing, and with just a few light pats across my face, all of my redness and blemishes were covered. It wasn’t until I walked out of my room into different lighting that my mom pointed out my neck was a good 2.5 shades darker. So….not quite there yet, but I’ll lighten up soon and I can’t wait to start using these on a regular basis!
Fixing Tints:
New holy grail lip product. These are true lip tints. The pigmentation is amazing and once it dries, it literally does not budge. I’ve tried rubbing it off with a wet cloth and the color just stays! Only comes off when I use makeup remover, and even then, it takes quite a few wipes. So no need to worry about red stains on your teeth, your napkin, your significant other, etc. The best part is that these tints aren’t drying at all, which is a HUGE plus for me because my lips are already super dry to begin with. And a little goes a long way (seems to be consistent across all AprilSkin products), so these tubes will last a while. Definitely give these a try! Click here to see what Tomato Lady (the shade to the far right) looks like on.
All in all, super happy with all the AprilSkin products that I’ve tried so far. They are definitely an up and coming brand, and I’m excited to see what else they come out with in the future 🙂
