A couple months ago, I wrote about another black sand beach (49 Black Sand Beach), which was actually my first stop on the big island. This beach, while similar in color, has a completely different vibe. It’s larger, for one, and also more lively (probably because of its size). And the huge sea turtles that lie around on the sand basking in the sun–it’s incredible to be able to observe them from such a close distance. It’s really a different kind of paradise.
Gorgeous, isn’t it?? And those sea turtles! I could have watched them for hours, haha. The turtles are usually the main reason that people visit this beach. The sand here is quite rough and not very pleasant to walk barefoot in. And with all the rocks along the edge of the water…not the best place to surf or boogie board. So I’d budget around 30-45 minutes to walk around here and get a good look at the sea turtles! And just take in the gorgeous scenery. The black sand makes for a gorgeous backdrop against the blue water and green palm trees.
In other news…I’m currently in Japan right now! Tokyo…Kyoto..Osaka. Taking lots of pictures to share with you guys 🙂 Check out my Instagram to see what I’ve been up to!
