I was going through pictures on my camera the other day and found these from a couple months ago. Labor Day weekend, I believe! We decided to go explore a small little town along the coast called Pescadero. Beaches, lighthouses, farms…you’ll find a little bit of everything there. The weather was quite gloomy when we went–typical NorCal beach weather. Foggy, gloomy, but still beautiful in its own way.
Our first stop was Pescadero State Beach. It was super windy, but so pretty! Not too crowded either, so we basically had the place to ourselves. I can only imagine how gorgeous this place is on a sunny, cloudless day.
Pigeon Point Lighthouse was our next stop. It’s actually a super short drive from Pescadero State Beach–maybe like 10-ish minutes? There were definitely more people at the lighthouse, but surprisingly, nobody walked down to the beach/cove area right next to it. There are a series of steps that you’ll pass by on your way to the lighthouse, and I guess if you’re not looking for it, it’s pretty easy to miss. But I highly recommend walking down to the beach! Just beware…the water is FREEZING. I wanted to walk in deeper but I literally lost feeling in my toes. Or maybe I’m just a wimp, haha.
Our last stop of the day (it was actually a pretty short day trip…more like half-day) was Harley Farms. I found it so fascinating how quickly we were able to go from beach to lighthouse to farm. The town is small, and like I said earlier, they’ve got a little bit of everything. I really wanted to visit this place cause I had heard so many good things about their goat cheeses. And they definitely did not disappoint!! So good, omg. I only regret not buying more. They’ve got samples of most of their products so you can taste test before you buy. And it’s not just cheese. They’ve got olive oil, vinegar, honey, etc. Their stuff isn’t super cheap, but it’s quality stuff, yo. Highly recommend. And you can also visit their goats in the back of the farm. They’re so cute!!
All in all, a pretty interesting day. And because this place is so close to San Mateo, ya’ll already know what I’m going to recommend–Ramen Parlor and Antoine’s Cookies. We went there for lunch/dessert first before heading out to Pescadero. I honestly wouldn’t have minded going back for dinner too. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed this post! š
